Moving from Accrington’s terraces and hillside streets

A lot of Accrington’s older housing is dense terraced streets, many built from the town’s own hard red brick known as NORI, with stone terraces on the higher ground and steeper streets towards Baxenden and the moor edge. That kind of housing shapes how a move runs: the van often parks on the street rather than on a driveway, and staircases can be narrow and steep, so beds, wardrobes and larger furniture often need to come apart to get down them. Our crew dismantles and reassembles furniture at the other end as a normal part of the job.
